OUHOUT CAMPSITE is situated about 10 km from Wakkerstroom on the Piet Retief road. It is on a working sheep farm and at high altitude of about 6800 ft or 2000m above sea level. It is far from the main roads up the mountains and very safe and secure. You travel about 7 km on a dirt road for access.
The campsite consists of one site accommodating up to 5 – 7 off-road caravans/tents as a group. There are unending hiking routes, birding walks, or mountain biking routes etc as you wish. The famous Wakkerstroom Birding Wetlands are nearby for of the best Birding in the country. Yellow Breasted Pipit, Botha’s Lark, Bush Black Cap and more can be found.
Zaihoek Dam is just 15 km away. There is no electricity so panels are the way.
The camp is set up amongst OUHOUT BUSHES with a crystal clear stream running through.
WAKKERSTROOM WATER is bottled on the farm.
Ablutions have gas hot water showers and flush toilets.
Fees: – R 1500-00 per night for complete camp area.
R 400-00 per night per site/Caravan, possible sharing of camp area with others.
The well designed braai – no grid supports needed and Bon-fire and coles handy
Camp sites are not demarcated – park as you wish in unlimited space
