CAMP12 - LYLIUS CAMPSITE CEDERBERG (CHRISTMAS CAMP) - 2 NOVEMBER 2024
The camp was held over three days. Lylius
campsite is a beautiful and very well maintained campsite by hosts Corne
and Lydia vd Westhuizen.
It has perfect grassed campsites and each
site takes 2 to 4 caravans who share one shower, toilet, lapa and
private braai. Costs is per site so
share as you wish. Sites are very
spacious and next to a small river. A communal Lapa, braai area and
swimming pool is well set across a pretty bridge
next to the river. All campers in our
group used this very handy facility for all visits and meals. It is
halfway between Citrusdal and Clanwilliam on the N7 and about
three kilometer on the Algeria /
Cederberg road across the Olifantsriver Bridge.
Saturday we went on an outing to DIE SLEE
RESTAURANT at KROMDRAAI VENUE high up in the Cederberg. Beautiful drive
and lovely rock formations
to be seen. After brunch we did some wine
tasting at CEDERBERG WINES nearby.

Great fun was had with a braai every evening in the lapa. The hot weather put us all into the river on Saturday, floating around in various devices. Having a central lapa again proved a neccessity if you are a group of people eating and
socializing together. The camp sites are very well laid out with lovely lawns.
CAMP05 - ZEVEN PUTS NATURE RESERVE - LAMBERTSBAAI - 12-14 November 2021
The camp was organized with the help of Reghardt Van Vuuren from CAPE MOBI ADVENTURES, our servicing dealer in the Cape. It is situated 20 km north of Lambertsbaai on a private unspoilt stretch of beach.
We camped right on the mussel shell covered beach with bare facilities - which is what the Mobi is made for. It was attended by 18 people. We had an "Eastern spiced skenkel pot" by yours truly on Friday night.
Brunch was organized by Essie & Ennerien Esterhuizen, and supper a braai by the rest of the gang. Lovely beach walks and sunsets, like above, enjoyed by Mathiam and Justin Smit.
The road to get there includes a 4 km stretch of blow-down-tyres sandy 4x4 driving.
CAMP04 - GUANO CAVES - MONTAGUE - 14-16 May 2021
The camp was going to be attended by over 30 members, but due to heavy rain forecasts, we were reduced to 18 campers. ( Real die-hards that learn slowly - haha ).
Friday night we had a raucous braai and visited the area and Montague on Saturday. That night the rain taught us a lesson, but we persevered.
Learnt that if there is a crowd and weather, you need a venue that doesn't leak !
